RMA have completed a survey of a section of the Lancashire Coastal Way for the Lancashire Countryside Service from Freckleton to The Dolphin Public House at Longton a distance of 22 miles
The survey included a full condition survey of the footpath surface, condition and full colour photographs of all countryside furniture. This information was detailed on a 1:10,000 map and full report. All landowner details and permissions to carry out the practical works, plus full costings and access details for the works required are also included in the report.


RMA caried out the survey work and researched the historical content for the 46 mile circular walk around the very beautiful Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Beauty (AONB)which starts and finishes in Clitheroe.
The work was carried out for Dave Padley of the Lancashire Countryside Service (01772 264709). The walk has proven very successful and a second print of the extensive walk pack has just been released (July 2003)

The walk travels along the lower slopes of Pendle Hill and continues along the rivers Ribble and Hodder passing through some of the most beautiful scenery in the North of England.

Ron McCombe Associates LImited have won the cntract to design and supply the Open Access Interpretation Boards for Nidderdale AONB

The contract wa cmpleted in time and to budget and the boards can bee seen throughout the Nidderdale AONB area.


Ron McCombe Associates Limited worked in conjunction with Peter Scott Planning Services of Edinburgh to produce the Sefton Coast Access Strategy. The main objective was to re-visit the Sefton Coastal Way and improve the access for all. Improving access for Cycleway, Bridleway, foot-way by integrating local and national bridleways, Pennine Bridleway, cycleways (NCN National Cycle Network, Leeds-Liverpool Canal Tow Path) and long distance footpaths.(Trans Pennine Trail, Cheshire Lines Path and the North West coastal Trail, which provides an essential link between Sefton and the Ribble Estuary Regional Park, Mersey Waterfront Way, The clear benefits are there for the local community, The Noirth West Of England and Nationally. The indicative cost for the whole project is £2m

Ron McCombe Associates have completed the survey of Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council's six mile section of the Middlewood Way. The long distance route runs between Stockport and Macclesfield and has dual status, as a footpath and a bridleway. p> The survay was completed and recomendations made, specifications drawn up, costings completed and risk assessments included along with pre-tender health and safety plane.p> If all recomendations are taken up the project will cost in the region of £50,000.

Interpretation boards have been designd, manufactured and supplied to Yorkshire Water and installed in the Washburn Valley, North Yorkshire. Blubberhouses, Fewston, Swinsty and Timble and Beecroft have had new interpretation boards showing Yorkshire Waters excellent footpath and bridleway routes in the area.

Ten interpretations boards have been supplied to the Forest of Bowland AONB countryside manager Dave Padley by Ron McCombe Associates. The boards which are part of a joint venture between Nidderdale AONB and the Forest of Bowland AONB are for the Yorkshire Open Access Areas within the estern flanks of the Forest of Bowland.

Ron McCombe Associates have been added to the consultants list of Perth and Kinross Countryside Trust. They will be working on access projects around the beautiful county of Perthsire
